NATIONS LEAGUE: FRANCE WINLESS RUN CONTINUES

World champions France are still waiting for their first win in the current UEFA Nations League campaign following their 1-1 draw with hosts Austria. France are the reigning World Cup winners and reigning Nations League winners.


With the draw against Austria in Vienna on Friday, France are now winless in their first three games as far as the ongoing UEFA Nations League campaign is concerned. France are in Group A1 alongside Austria, Croatia and Denmark.

In the first set of Group A1 games, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema scored the first goal of the Nations League campaignto give hosts France the lead against Denmark in the second half before the visitors turned the game around when Andreas Cornelius came off the bench to score twice and win the game for his team. For the other group game, Austria stunned Croatia away from home after scoring three times without conceding any goal.

For the second set of Group A1 matches, Karim Benzema and his France teammates took their winless run to two games after they played a 1-1 draw with hosts Croatia. Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiotscored in the second half to set the French team on the way to victory before a late penalty fromAndrej Kramaricsecured a point from the game. In the other group game, Denmark made it two wins in a row with a 2-1 away victory.

In the third set of Group A1 games,Karim Benzema and his France teammates needed a second half equaliserfrom Paris Saint Germain (PSG) superstar KylianMbappe to record a 1-1 draw at the home of Austria. In the other group game, Atalanta midfielder Mario Pasalic scored the only goal of the game in the second half as Croatia recorded their first win in Group A1 via a 1-0 away win over Denmark.
