Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti says that he is not interested in signing new players in the January transfer window since he’s more than happy with the current crop of players. Madrid set a new record of winning 20 matches in succession.
The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Gareth Bale have been extremely impressive, while summer signings like Toni Kroos have also settled in well. Despite the good run, Madrid do not seem to have the strongest squad – especially in terms of numbers – in Europe. Hence, it has been suggested that Ancelotti may dip into the transfer window as a Christmas present from the club.
The former Chelsea and Paris St Germain manager has ruled out the possibility by saying that he remains content with the squad. This has also suggested that Karim Benzema is unlikely to be sold in the next month. The French forward has been linked with a return to France with PSG ready to pay huge sums of money. Benzema recently went on a run of more than 10 matches in which he assisted or scored a goal. He is often viewed as the pet signing of Madrid president Florentino Perez, but that has not stopped him from being linked with a January move.
“No[buying players], not for Christmas (laughs). Only thing I want is to go on vacation. After that, we’ll see about Modric and James’s condition. Both are recovering well and we might not need any new players. This wasn’t an easy game. The result is deceiving. The truth is Almería fought hard, and we struggled with possession. It wasn’t until the very end that we were able to control the game, with Ronaldo’s goals. This has been an unforgettable year. This team deserves a very high grade. We finish a year where we won lots of trophies, including La Décima,” said Ancelotti.
